The US distribution rights to “The Riot Club” have been bought by IFC Films.
The film focuses on the Riot Club, a society made up of Oxford University’s elite. The films follows Miles (Max Irons) and Alistair (Sam Claflin), new students who want to join the club, through their initiation. The group must maintain their reputation, but only in public since their actions behind closed doors are debauchery in its purest form. Graham Broadbent and Peter Czernin produced the film while Long Scherfig served as its director.
The film also stars Holliday Grainger, Douglas Booth, Natalie Dormer and Jessica Brown Findlay. “The Riot Club” is based on Laura Wade’s play “Posh” and Wade herself wrote the film’s script. The Riot Club from the movie and its stage couterpart are based on The Bullingdon Club, an actual Oxford University elite society.
The film will premiere Saturday at the Toronto Film Festival.
